self-helpYou may or may not have noticed, but I’m a bit of a self-help addict. This week, I’m sharing with you some useful self-help tidbits I’ve come across on the internet. A lot of these writers are people I go to when I’m stressed, and I pull from them when I’m trying out new techniques to feel better and be more creative. If you want to make the most of your creativity, you gotta take care of yourself. Here are some ideas. Enjoy!

Martha Beck is a great writer. Her books are funny and inspiring and she has plenty of articles floating around the internet. This one is a bit of a mind-bender: what if that thorny situation is not either/or, but both/and?

10 easy ways to reduce stress, hour by hour.

Marie Forleo’s latest video is also about stress. Learn about her technique for dealing with it quickly and easily – something that’s in my own emergency self-care kit.

This is something I struggle with all the time. You’ve wasted so much time already, why bother? Alexandra Franzen reminds us that today is not over yet.

A long list with a surprising amount of useful advice.

These suggestions are pretty common, but still a good reminder.

Kelly McGonigal wrote a book and did a TedTalk on the subject of willpower. Here’s a quick primer about what her studies have discovered.

I had a couple posts from this site on my list but decided to just post the whole site. You can fall down a major self-help rabbit hole here.

Want to bring more gratitude into your life? Ted prepared this great list of “non-cheesy” resources on the subject.

You’ve probably heard that famous quote by Martha Graham (“You have a vitality, a life force….”). This article talks about the context that quote came out of and why you shouldn’t compare yourself to others.

Elizabeth Gilbert is so wise. She writes a ton about creativity, but here’s an article about how to ease up on ourselves.

And we’ll finish up the list with another article by Martha Beck on following our purpose.
